Our Core Specialization

Quartercut teak selected for demanding yacht decking

Quartercut teak, also known internationally as quarter-sawn teak or quarter cut teak, is selected for the straight vertical grain associated with premium yacht decking.

The cutting orientation provides greater dimensional stability across the width of the board and creates a more uniform visual appearance than conventional flat-sawn material.

Nauteaka focuses on professional supply where grain orientation, dimensions, machining, consistency, documentation and project requirements matter as much as the timber species itself.

Standard decking is available in 10 mm, 23 mm and 27 mm thicknesses, with widths from approximately 50, 65, 100, 130 and 155 mm. Custom requirements and lengths up to 3000 mm can be discussed according to material availability.

Why Quartercut?

The characteristics professional yacht decking demands

Quarter-sawn teak combines natural durability with the grain consistency and dimensional behaviour required for precise, premium marine deck installations.

01

Straight Vertical Grain

Quartercutting produces the clean, straight grain appearance expected across premium yacht and superyacht decks.

02

Dimensional Stability

Quarter-sawn orientation provides greater dimensional stability across board width than conventional flat-sawn teak.

03

Natural Durability

Tectona grandis is naturally suited to demanding outdoor and marine environments and is classified as very durable.

04

Project Adaptability

Dimensions and machining can be coordinated around the requirements of professional yacht and marine projects.

Legality & Traceability

Legal timber supply is part of the specification

For professional international buyers, timber legality and traceability are fundamental parts of the purchasing process, not optional additions.

Nauteaka coordinates the documentation required for legal Indonesian timber exports and works around the certification requirements defined at the beginning of each project.

SVLK legality documentation for Indonesian timber exports
FSC® sourcing options according to project and material availability
Traceability and shipment documentation
Export preparation for professional international orders
Certification requirements reviewed before order confirmation

Official reference: Indonesia SILK / SVLK FSC Chain of Custody

Specify documentation from the beginning.

If FSC® material, specific traceability documents or destination-related documentation are required, they should be included in the original project specification.

This allows material sourcing, availability and documentation requirements to be aligned before the order proceeds.

Quartercut Teak FAQ

Common questions from professional teak buyers

What is quartercut teak decking?
Quartercut teak is teak sawn so the growth rings are oriented predominantly perpendicular to the board face. This creates the straight vertical grain and dimensional stability preferred for high-quality yacht decking.
Is quartercut teak the same as quarter-sawn teak?
Yes. Quartercut teak, quarter cut teak and quarter-sawn teak are commonly used internationally for the same general cutting orientation. Terminology varies between buyers and markets.
Can Nauteaka supply custom dimensions?
Yes. Standard quartercut teak dimensions are available, and custom dimensions and profiles can be discussed according to project requirements and material availability. Custom lengths can reach up to approximately 3000 mm.
Can Nauteaka supply FSC® quartercut teak?
FSC® sourcing options can be discussed according to project requirements and material availability. Buyers requiring certified material should specify this when requesting a quotation.
What is the typical lead time?
Typical lead time is approximately 14 weeks. Final timing depends on dimensions, order volume, availability, machining, certification and project requirements.
